Keep
the Momentum
Thank
you to all who spoke out for the future of our community last night
-- and to the many others who have weighed
in by email. Hundreds of you turned out! Now we need to keep
the momentum going on Saturday.
Final
public hearing
Saturday, June 10 at 9 AM
County
Government Center
Speaker sign up starts at 8:30 AM; we suggest lining up
early.
After an outcry
from the public, the Board of Supervisors decided to allow us to
speak for three minutes, and they reversed their decision to end
the hearing at 10 PM. Citizens spoke until midnight, and those who
needed to leave earlier recorded their comments. Press
coverage was extensive. Our voices were heard, and we
thank the Board of Supervisors for listening to all of us.
Your
voice is so important for the future of our community. Tell the
Board of Supervisors to:
These hearings will be
your last chance to make
sure the Supervisors know what you think. This decision impacts
all of us -- you and I will be paying for the new roads, schools,
and county services to handle all these new houses.
The lack of roads, water,
etc., in western Loudoun is a great challenge. Imagine the county's
mounting debt and your mounting tax bill if we need to build and
operate multiple schools in the rural area, not to mention other
necessary services and infrastructure.
We
still need so much in eastern Loudoun -- paved roads, stoplights,
interchanges, schools, fire and police stations, etc. So many more
houses have already been approved but not yet build in our communities
-- 17,000 more houses in Asbhurn, 11,000 more house near South Riding,
etc. We do not need more competition for scarce state and
local funds.
If you're tired of your
increasing tax bill, you need to speak up! Or hold a sign. Or stand next to your
spouse while she/he speaks. Please come and show our elected officials that you
care -- your participation will make the difference! Let
us know if you can come.

Final
Public Hearing on Loudoun's Rural Zoning with the Board
of Supervisors:
Saturday,
June 10, 9:00 AM
County
Government Center
NOTE:
We recommend showing up as early as you can. Although sign
up begins approximately 30 minutes prior to the hearing, developers
and citizens often line up earlier. If you spoke Wednesday,
you cannot speak a second time.
Speaker sign up begins
30 minutes prior to the hearings and is on a first-come, first-serve basis. You
will have 2-3 minutes to speak. We suggest preparing your statement in advance;
bring several copies to submit in case you don't get to speak. |
